Last week, we got a visit from our friends at the York County Economic Alliance.

More than a year ago, the organization was created when the York County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation combined forces.
But I’m not here to talk about serious stuff like that.

Of course, I could use this opportunity to share important business community excitement with you. But I choose to share this:
Purple Finch.
Nope. It’s not the new YCEA mascot.
It’s the name of the project that brought Church & Dwight to Jackson Township in 2009.
You see, the YCEA works with relocation firms. Those relocation firms help companies that might be considering numerous sites, including York County, to start an operation.
But sometimes, these companies don’t want anyone — including YCEA officials — to know their identities in the initial stages of a relocation.
So, they give the relocation plans nifty monikers.
Hence, Purple Finch.
The Church & Dwight project actually had two names. Before Purple Finch, it was Project Renaissance.
It’s the same deal with Johnson Controls.
The Milwaukee-based company said it was also considering a site in Hunt Valley, Md.
That top secret plan was called Project Global. Not as funny as Purple Finch, but hey. They can’t all be winners.
So, in the spirit of the YCEA, I’m going to start naming my own projects.
